The Oak Cycle

In 2022 I was an Artist-in-Residence at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA, alongside a cohort of 6 other talented artists in media including painting, dance, sculpture, and photography.

Mount Auburn Cemetery, a National Historic Landmark, was founded in 1831. It is the first landscaped cemetery in the United States, and has been celebrated since as a horticultural eden that is one of Boston's most beautiful public spaces.

During my residency I created The Oak Cycle, an audio-visual piece inspired by Mount Auburn's incredible oak tree collection, containing over 450 trees of numerous species. Together with my collaborator Rafi Sofer (audio, video, and co-production), I set out to create a meditative music film that moves between the real and the imaginary, while organically incorporating the natural sounds of the site.
